Sheilan tiineys varmistui ultrassa viime viikolla. Pentujen laskettu aika on 10.3.

Sheila's pregnancy was confirmed by ultrasound last week. Puppies are due around March 10th.

BIS FiMVA HeW-18 V-18 Badgershill Smoke On The Water ”Sheila” on astutettu isänpuoleisella isoisoisoisällään "Tuba"lla  Am Ch. Springbuk’s Basso Profundo (sukusiitosprosentti 3,13 viidellä sukupolvella – SKL:n suositus on max. 6,25%).

Sheilan terveystulokset: lonkat C/B, kyynärpäät 0/0, polvet 0/0, selkä: SP0, LTV0, VA0, olkanivelet normaalit, sydän; sivuääni 1/6 (ultra: aortan virtausnopeus 2,1 m/s - alle 2,0: normaali, 2,4 tai yli: SAS), silmät terveet paitsi macroblepharon myös gonioskopia normaali, kilpirauhanen normaali, DM normaali N/N

Tuban terveystulokset: lonkat OFA Good, kyynärpäät OFA normal, sydän OFA normal

Tuba eli pitkän (lähes 13 v.) ja terveen elämän. Sillä oli USA:ssa kaksi pentuetta, yksi sen pojista oli eräs tietty komea uros Alamo, johon rakastuin 2002 kun näin sen Pleasantonissa, Kaliforniassa ja jota sitten myöhemmin käytin ensimmäisen pentueeni isäksi.

Olemme hyvin innoissamme tästä projektista. Ultran aika on viikolla 6, pentujen laskettu aika on maaliskuun 10. päivän tienoilla. Sekä black and tan ja liver and tan värit mahdollisia. Pentukyselyt hyvistä pysyvistä kodeista ovat tervetulleita!

BIS Fi Ch. HeW-18 FiW-18 Badgershill Smoke On The Water ”Sheila” has been bred to her paternal great great grandsire ”Tuba” Am Ch. Springbuk’s Basso Profundo (inbreeding percentage 3,13 with five generations – FKC’s recommendation is max. 6,25%).

Sheila’s health results: Hips C/B (equals OFA Fair/Good), elbows 0/0 (clear), patellas 0/0 (clear), spine clear (no spondylosis, no LTV, no vertebral anomaly), shoulders clear, cardiac equivocal; murmur 1/6 (ultrasound, aortic flowrate 2,1 m/s (below 2,0: normal, 2,4 or higher: SAS), eyes normal except for macroblepharon also gonioscopy normal, thyroid normal, DM normal N/N

Tuba’s health results: Hips OFA Good, OFA elbows normal, OFA cardiac normal

Tuba lived a long (almost 13 yrs) and healthy life and sired two litters in US, one of his sons was a certain handsome dog named Alamo, with whom I fell in love in 2002 when I saw him in Pleasanton, CA and later used him for stud for my first litter.

We are very excited about the project. Ultrasound will be performed on wk 6, due date of the litter is around March 10. Both black and tan and liver and tan colours possible. Puppy inquiries with good forever homes are welcome!

Terveystarkastuksia ja näyttelytuloksia // Health checks and show results

Sheilan silmät ja sydän tarkastettiin syyskuussa. Silmät normaalit (myös gonioskopia) paitsi makroblepharon. Sydän ultrattiin ja todettiin hyvin heikko (1/6) sivuääni, joka johtuu aavistuksen kohonneesta aorttavirtauksesta (2,1 m/s), kun normaaliarvo on alle 2 m/s mutta toisaalta taas vasta 2,4 m/s tai korkeampi luokitellaan SAS:ksi, joten tulos ns. piilevä. Muuten sydän oli täysin normaali niin rakenteeltaan kuin fysiologialtaankin. Joulun alla testattiin vielä kilpirauhanen (T4, TSH ja T4/TSH suhde) sekä Sheilalta että Raimolta, kummallakin tulokset olivat normaalit.

Sheila ja Raimo kävivät Jyväskylän KV-näyttelyssä marraskuun 11. päivä. Tuomarina oli Jose Homem de Mello Portugalista. Sheila oli ROP kera cacibin ja Raimon tulos oli EH/1. Ryhmään emme jääneet. Joulukuussa oli vuorossa Messari, lauantaina Helsinki Winner -näyttelyssä Sheila oli ROP kera Nord-sertin (tuomarina Anne MacDonald, Iso-Britannia) ja sunnuntaina Voittaja -näyttelyssä taas ROP kera cacibin (tuomarina Martin Johansson, Ruotsi). Ryhmään emme jääneet kumpanakaan päivänä. Sheilaa esitti sekä Jyväskylässä että Helsingissä luottohandlerimme Mariza Laakko, suuret kiitokset! Sheilan uudet tittelit ovat: HeW-18 ja V-18.

Sheila had her eyes and heart examined in September. Eyes were normal (including gonioscopy) except for macroblepharon. Her heart was ultrasounded and a very slight murmur (grade 1/6) was found and it is caused by slightly elevated aortic flow rate (2,1 m/s), while normal flow rate would be below 2 m/s but only 2,4 m/s or higher is classified as SAS - thus her result is equivocal. Otherwise her heart was completely normal in structure as well as physiology. Before Christmas we also had thyroid testing performed (T4, TSH and T4/TSH ratio) for both Sheila and Raimo - both had normal results. 

Sheila and Raimo were shown at the Jyväskylä Int show on Nov 11th. The judge was Mr. Jose Homem de Mello, Portugal. Sheila was BOB with a cacib, Raimo got VG/1. We did not stay for the finals. In December it was time for the Fair Center shows in Helsinki. On Saturday at the Helsinki Winner show Sheila took BOB and a NordCC under Mrs. Anne Macdonald, UK and on Sunday at the Finnish Winner show she took another BOB and a cacib under Mr. Martin Johansson, Sweden. We did not stay for the finals on either day. Sheila was handled both in Jyväskylä and in Helsinki by our trusted handler Mariza Laakko, big thanks! Sheila's new titles are: HeW-18 and FiW-18

Hopefully the beginning of 2019 will bring some happy news from us...!

Uusi Tanskan Muotovalio ja muutakin // New Danish Champion and more

Nick (Swe Ch. W-17 Maple Bay Basil Instinct) kävi viikonloppuna Bornholmin KV-näyttelyissä, Tanskassa. Lauantaina tuloksena oli ROP, sert, cacib, uusi Tanskan MVA, RYP-1 ja BIS-4! Tuomarit olivat rotu: Kurt Nilsson, Ruotsi, ryhmä: Karl-Erik Johansson, Ruotsi ja BIS: Markku Kipinä, Suomi.
Tänään tuloksena oli taas ROP ja RYP-1, tuomarit Markku Kipinä (rotu) ja Arne Foss, Norja (ryhmä). Suuret onnittelut Mia Linder ja Nick! 💖

Nick (Swe Ch. W-17 Maple Bay Basil Instinct) participated the Bornholm Int shows in Denmark during this weekend. On Saturday the results were as follows: BOB, cc, cacib, new Danish Champion, Group-1, BIS-4! Judges were: breed: Mr. Kurt Nilsson, Sweden, Group 6: Mr. Karl-Erik Johansson, Sweden and BIS: Mr. Markku Kipinä, Finland.
Today the results were again BOB and Group-1, judges Mr. Markku Kipinä (breed) and Mr. Arne Foss, Norway (group). Huge congrats Mia Linder and Nick! 💖

Suomen Bassetkerhon erikoisnäyttely // Specialty show of the Finnish Basset Club

Sheila oli ROP Bassetkerhon erikoisnäyttelyssä Tampereella 18.8., ja se sai myös Parhaat Liikkeet -kiertopalkinnon. Tuomarina oli Elisabeth Aune Moseby, Norja. BIS-kisassa ei sijoitusta tullut (sama tuomari). Sen sijaan Raimo ja Sheila osallistuivat Paras Pari -kilpailuun ja sijoittuvat hienosti BIS-3 Pariksi. Tuomarina oli Sirpa Koivulaakso.

Sheila took BOB at the Specialty show of the Basset Club in Tampere, August 18th, and she also got the challenge trophy for Best Movement. Our judge was Mrs. Elisabeth Aune Moseby, Norway. In BIS competition Sheila did not place (same judge). But Raimo and Sheila competed in the Best Brace competition and placed BIS-3 Brace. Judge was Mrs. Sirpa Koivulaakso, Finland.
