Silmätarkastus & Vuoden Näyttelykoira 2012 // Eye check & Show dog of the Year 2012

Raili & Ulla kävivät virallisessa silmätarkastuksessa tänään. Normaalin silmäpeilauksen lisäksi tehtiin myös gonioskopiatutkimus. Railin silmät olivat täysin terveet & normaalit, Ullalla löytyi lievä goniodysplasiamuutos, eli silmän rakennemuutos, joka saattaa lisätä glaukoomariskiä.
Leila voitti Tampereen Seudun Koirakerhon Vuoden Näyttelykoirakilpailun 2012. Palkinto jaetaan 21.3. Olipahan aikamoinen yllätys!

Raili & Ulla were checked for their eyes (official eye examination) today. In addition to the normal eye examination, also gonioscopy was performed for both. Raili's eyes were perfectly healthy and normal, Ulla was found to have a slight goniodysplastic change, which is a structural abnormality of the eye that can lead to an increased risk for glaucoma.
Leila won the Show Dog of the Year 2012 prize of the Tampere area dog club (Tampereen Seudun Koirakerho ry.). The prize will be distributed on March 21st. What a great surprise that was!

Edustamassa TSE ry:tä Hippo-hiihdoissa 17.2.2013 // Representing TSE ry. at the kids' Hippo-ski competition

17.2. oltiin Leilan kanssa edustamassa Tampereen Seudun Etsintäkoiria (TSE ry.) Viljakkalassa lasten Hippo-hiihdoissa. Paikalla oli neljä koirakkoa, joista hakukoirat järjestivät yleisölle pelastusnäytöksen. Leila oli paikalla lähinnä rapsuteltavana, josta se suuresti nautti.

On 17.2. Leila & me were representing the Tampere SAR group (TSE ry.) in Viljakkala at the kids’ skiing competition. We had four dog teams there, the air scenting dogs showed their skills in front of the audience. Leila was there mostly for being petted, which she greatly enjoyed.

Parkano ryhmänäyttely/group show 2.2.2013

Leila kävi Parkanon ryhmänäyttelyssä lauantaina ja oli ROP. Tuomarina oli Juha Putkonen. Ryhmässä (yhdistetty FCI4/6) ei sijoitusta (tuomarina Markku Kipinä).

Leila visited Parkano group show on Saturday and she took BOB. Judge was Mr. Juha Putkonen. In the group (combined FCI4/6) no group placement (judged by Mr. Markku Kipinä).

Helsinki Winner 2012 & Winner 2012

Leila ja Fredi olivat lauantaina Helsinki Winner 2012 näyttelyssä. Tuomarina oli Jan Coppens, Hollanti. Leila oli ROP ja sai tittelin HeW-12. Fredi oli PU2 ja sai varacacibin. Ryhmässä Leila pääsi jatkoon muttei lopulta sijoittunut (sama tuomari). Sunnuntain Voittaja 2012-näyttelyssä meiltä oli kehässä vain Leila, ja se oli taas ROP ja sai tittelin V-12. Tuomarina oli Göran Bodegård, Ruotsi. Ryhmässä ei sijoitusta (Leila Kärkäs).

Sirkka muutti omaan kotiinsa Suolahteen itsenäisyyspäivänä.

Leila and Fredi were shown on Saturday at the Helsinki Winner 2012 show. Judge was Mr. Jan Coppens, Netherlands. Leila took BOB and got the title HeW-12. Fredi was best male 2 and got a res-cacib. In the group Leila made the cut but did not place (same judge). On Sunday only Leila was shown from my pack, and she took the breed again and got the title W-12. Judge was Mr. Göran Bodegård, Sweden. No placement in the group (judged by Mrs. Leila Kärkäs). Leila was expertly handled by Mariza Laakko, a big thank you!

Sirkka moved to her new home in Suolahti Finland on Independence day.

Jyväskylä Int show 11.11.2012

Leila oli ROP ja Torspo VSP tänään Jyväskylän KV-näyttelyssä. Ulla oli PN2 (ja saa Leilan cacibin kunhan FCI sen vahvistaa). Tuomarina Attila Àron Czeglédi, Unkari. Leilan esitti upeasti Mariza Laakko, iso kiitos! :)

Leila took BOB and Torspo BOS today in Jyväskylä Int show. Ulla was Best bitch 2 (and will get Leila's cacib later, when FCI confirms it). The judge was Mr. Attila Àron Czeglédi, Hungary. Leila was expertly handled by Mariza Laakko, a big thank you! :)

Vihikoirien joukkueottelu 2012 // Unofficial team trial 2012

Sunnuntaina oltiin vihien joukkueottelussa Leilan ja Railin kanssa Tammisaaressa. Vihikoirayhdistys järjestää vuosittain jäljestyskauden päätteeksi epävirallisen joukkueottelun, johon kutsun saavat ko. vuonna tuloksia kokeista saaneet koirat. Osallistujista muodostetaan kahden koirakon joukkueet. Jokainen joukkue saa tehtäväksi suorittaa kaksi jälkeä; toinen taajamassa, toinen metsässä. Taajamajäljen päässä on vain jäljenkävelijä, mutta metsäjäljellä on kolme henkilöä, joista koiran tulee tunnistaa oikea. Joukkueita oli kolme, kuten yleensä. Valitettavasti kaikki tuloksia saaneet koirat eivät päässeet paikalle.
Meidän joukkueesta Leila kokeneempana suoritti taajamajäljen ja Raili metsäjäljen. Raili ei ollut aiemmin jäljestänyt kuin maks. tunnin vanhan jäljen ja aina vain yhdellä maalimiehellä. Mutta eipä haitannut, Railin hyvän työskentelyn ja upean tunnistuksen ansiosta meidän tiimi voitti kisan. Pikkulikka on melkoisen pätevä pakkaus. :) Tuomarina oli Seija Heinola.

On Sunday we were at the team trial for the trailing bloodhounds in Tammisaari. The Finnish Bloodhound Association organizes the unofficial team trial every fall after the trailing season. The dogs that have gotten accepted results at the trials that year are invited. Participants are divided to teams consisting of two dogs and handlers. There were three teams as usually. Unfortunately not all dogs who got results this year were able to attend.
Each team has to work two trails, one in an urban area, one in the woods. At the end of the urban trail, there's only the runner, but at the end of the forest trail there are three persons of which the dog needs to id the correct one. From our team Leila worked the urban trail, as she's more experienced, and Raili worked the forest trail. Raili had only worked max. 1 hr old trails and only with one runner, but it did not matter. Because of her good work on the trail and beautiful id, our team won. The little girl is pretty clever. :) The trial was judged by Seija Heinola.

Viikonlopun tuloksia // Results from the weekend

Dio (Maple Bay Tru Brisco of Toledo), joka asuu Ruotsissa, suoritti lauantaina vihikoirien jälkikokeen “Högre klass” -luokan (vastaa Suomen avointa luokkaa). Jälki oli 7 h vanha ja maalissa oli 4 henkilöä, joista koiran piti tunnistaa oikea henkilö. Nyt Dio pääsee kilpailemaan korkeimmalle tasolle, jossa jälki on 18-24 h vanha. Onnea Tobias & Dio! J

Finja (Maple Bay Miss Trueblood), joka asuu Saksassa, kävi viikonloppuna kahdessa näyttelyssä Dortmundissa hakemassa parit lisäjunnu”sertit” ja valmistui täten Saksan Juniorivalioksi. Tuomareina olivat Damir Skok, Kroatia, ja Roberto Velez Picó, Puerto Rico. Viikkoa aiemmin Finja kävi Rostockin KV-näyttelyssä, tuomarina oli Monika Blaha, Itävalta, ja sieltäkin se sai junnusertin ollen ROP-juniori. Finjan valiotitteli on tämän pentueen ensimmäinen! Dio (Maple Bay Tru Brisco of Toledo), living in Sweden, passed the “Higher class” in mantrailing on Saturday (equivalent to our Open class). The trail was 7 hrs old, there were 4 persons at the end and the dog had to id the correct person. Now Dio moves on to the highest level, where the trail will be 18-24 hrs old. Congrats to Tobias & Dio! J

Finja (Maple Bay Miss Trueblood), living in Germany, visited two shows in Dortmund during the weekend. She got two more junior “certificates” and thus finished her German Junior Champion title. The judges were Mr. Damir Skok, Croatia, and Mr. Roberto Velez Picó, Puerto Rico. Week before this, Finja visited the Rostock Int show, judged by Mrs. Monika Blaha, Austria, and got the junior certificate there too, and was BOB junior. Finja’s title is the first champion title in this litter! Congrats Karsten, Annett, Sina & Finja! J
